SAR-GPS Laboratory
SAR-GPS Laboratory
The Laboratory of SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) deals with the software development and maintenance of an interferometric chain GEOMStoNe (GEOmatic Milano Sar chaiN). The SAR interferometric technique allows to measure displacements, of the order of cm/mm, of points on the Earth's surface, starting from satellite images acquired by SAR sensor. This technique is applied, in its various declinations, for phenomena such as: calculation of the cosismic surface (see Figure where each fringe corresponds to 2.8 cm of displacement!), landslide monitoring, control of civil engineering structures, subsidence, volcanoes, etc…
The Laboratory has 3 dual frequency Trimble receiver GPS
